Inner Work(shops)

Tending the inner work that supports your most whole, generative, open-hearted, and engaged leadership

contact me to bring these or similar workshops to your organization

Wouldn't it be great to feel more grounded and confident in your life or work, to be able to bring your deepest values and your whole self into the work you do?  Would you like to feel less overwhelmed and less anxious in your work and life? What if you had more tools for leading and living authentically, and more support too? What if you could experience more connection, meaning, and joy in your day-to-day life?

Join me for Inner Work(shops)--spaces where you can tend to your inner life in ways that matter and make a difference in your leadership work and relationships.

Imagine a space where you can feel relaxed, held, and inspired as you learn new skills and discover how to bring your authentic gifts into the world. Imagine being in a learning space that feels creative, spiritual, and centers relationships so that you leave feeling like you have new inner capacity and new connections with like-minded people.  Build community with others who also want to live their values and show up as their whole selves within a dominant work culture that doesn't always value this. Learn in a transformative space where vulnerability, earth-connection, and wholeness matter and where you can grow your ability to bring your head, hands, and heart into all you do. Imagine learning new ways of being and cultivating more confidence and clarity about who you are and how you are showing up in your life.

The leaders needed today--in climate crisis, in widespread upheaval of our social systems, in systemic injustice, and in this sea of anxiety and overwhelm--are just people like you, collaborators, catalysts, curators, and relationship-cultivators who are grounded, easeful, and connected to earth-Life. We need leaders who know themselves, who can slow down and model ways of being that bring more peace and stability into their circles. We need leaders who can work with others in ways that are generative, open-hearted, and process-oriented.

Inner Work(shops) can support you in deepening your leadership skills and your ability to show up as your most whole, authentic, and engaged self. Here we unlearn and flip the dominant leadership paradigm that tells us that leaders are independent, driven, hard-edged and have all the answers. Instead we imagine and know leaders to be hosts and facilitators who are rooted in intention, process, people, and earth-wisdom.

Join me in tending to the inner work that is needed to support your leadership, relationships, and whole self.

Each Inner work(shop) includes: Three sessions, and resources for optional reading and learning.

We are facing so much uncertainty and change in the world around us and in our own lives. It can feel overwhelming and so we often try to distract ourselves or we pretend it will all be fine....because uncertainty is uncomfortable! But what if we could learn to approach uncertainty and change with more groundedness, courage, and curiosity? What if we could learn from earth's wisdom, and create a sense of rooted trust in life?  What if we could cultivate more light-hearted curiosity and heart-centered courage, in order to meet uncertainty with less anxiety? We can build a bridge between fear of uncertainty and new possibilities.

In this workshop we will use a whole systems approach to learn to meet uncertainty with groundedness, courage, and curiosity-- to bring more stability and ease into our lives and work.

We will:

  • observe how we typically meet uncertainty and how it makes us feel

  • learn a powerful mindfulness tool for meeting uncertainty

  • be guided in practices and visualizations to cultivate more rootedness and trust

  • learn how our nervous systems react to uncertainty and how to envision anchors that support us

  • root into our heart's longings and our gifts to cultivate more courage

  • practice playful curiosity

  • learn and share in a small community of practice

This is the kind of goodness that is hard to fully capture in words. You feel it in your body, a sense of safety, relief, possibility, and tenderness....It is an experience of being held and invited, into loving witness of all the parts of being human -- hopeful, tender, fearful, playful, brave, and questioning. I have a sense of communal belonging, as well as more expansive resource for how to be with uncertainty. I also will take with me what other group members shared that was evocative, touching and new as well. I can picture using these body and soul practices that feel like a more sturdy bridge between fear and possibility.
Learn in a space that feels welcoming, heart-opening, practical, and supportive.

Inner work(shops) are:

  • Part skills lab (learn new tools and ideas)

  • Part reflection (integrate what you are learning into your life and work)

  • Part re-connection (to earth wisdom & to your own wise body and spirit)

  • Part guidance and support (I offer intuitive facilitation & caring support)

  • Part community connection (learn from the wisdom of your workshop collaborators and make new connections)

  • Part unlearning (how we are impacted by harmful and dominant systems like White Supremacy Culture and grind culture)

  • Part refreshment and inspiration for your heart and nervous system (so you can continue in your best work and life)

I've been facilitating transformative learning spaces for over 25 years. For the last 15+ years I've taught graduate courses on sustainability leadership, guiding learners into a new understanding of who they are and what leadership can mean for them in this particular context of social unraveling, climate crisis, and systemic injustice. My course, Spiritual Leadership for Sustainable Change, has been particularly impactful for many--because of its heart-centered focus on the inner transformation we need to live whole authentic lives as change-makers and world-weavers. My classes and workshops are always participatory and may include body movement, stillness & mindfulness, reflection, skill-building, contemplative practices, earth and seasonal connection, intuitive knowing, play, imaginative exercises, emotional exploration, and sharing with others. LessisMore

Cultivating a successful Less is More approach

Many of us are deeply tired but don't know how to get off the treadmill of endless production, and we don't know how to help our organizations do this either.  Our dominant systems are designed to keep us trapped in always doing more, more & more. Unpack what doing more and doing less really mean to you and why, and practice new skills for cultivating quality over quantity (both in your own life and within groups and organizations) so that you can lead and live with more joy, calm, and meaning. Experience how Less truly can be More and how you can feel more successful when you say yes to less.

Wholeness

Showing up in Wholeness- stepping into Self energy

What does it mean to show up as our whole selves? How can we bring our whole selves into contexts that don't seem to welcome them? Learn how to step into Self energy in which we have access to Calm, Curiosity, Clarity, Compassion, Confidence, Courage, Creativity and Connectedness. Self energy is abundant and we all have it.  Learn practices and skills that connect you to your Self energy so that you can show up more authentically and holistically in all your roles. Learn to lead from Self and how to support others to do so as well.

Self-compassion

Self-compassion and care for the busy and driven parts of you

Most of us have parts that keep us working hard and always pushing forward because that's what our dominant cultural systems demand. And we often experience shame and fear if we're not forcing or pushing ourselves. Even if you've practiced self-compassion before, this workshop will help you learn or remember how to offer the busy and driven parts of yourself consistent and wise compassion and care that feels purposeful and right for you. When we can show up as fully self-compassionate and self-caring, we can also amplify compassion and care in our leadership work and to those around us.

"Coming home to ourselves feels like belonging; it is a state that holds us and enables us to hold others."
